Amazon’s new 4v4 MOBA, March of Giants, has launched its closed alpha testing phase, running until September 14th. Players can request access through Steam. With Amazon’s backing, the game certainly has the resources to succeed, but its long-term viability remains to be seen.
Current player concurrency is around 600, which isn’t necessarily indicative of popularity due to the limited alpha access.
The MOBA landscape is dominated by established titles like League of Legends and Dota 2. Breaking into this market is difficult, as there haven’t been many successful new MOBAs in over a decade. Even Smite, which could be considered a success, faces its own challenges.
