HoYoverse Unveils New Game Honkai: Nexus Anima Featuring Autochess Gameplay, Beta Signups Open

HoYoverse has announced Honkai: Nexus Anima, the latest installment in the Honkai franchise. They are now accepting applications for the initial closed beta test, called the “Nexus Bond Test.” The studio, renowned for Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, describes Nexus Anima as a creature-collecting strategy game, combining team-building with fast-paced action. Based on the trailer, the core gameplay appears to be similar to Auto Chess or Teamfight Tactics.

The beta will be available on PC and iOS. Registration is open until September 12. While a release date hasn’t been specified, the beta should provide an early look at the game’s “Anima” companions and their role in exploration and combat. This title represents HoYoverse’s first major push to embrace the monster-taming genre, fueled by the continued popularity of games like Pokemon.

  • Platforms: PC and iOS for the closed beta. Note that game data will be wiped after the test concludes.
  • Core Hook: Collect and form bonds with Anima, creatures that embody opposing concepts such as Light and Dark, or Life and Death.
  • Auto Chess-Like Gameplay: Combine Anima abilities to create synergies and tactics during “Nexus Battles,” resembling Teamfight Tactics.
  • Story Setup: Players assume the role of a dimension-hopping traveler who escapes captivity and seeks to restore the world’s fractured bonds.
