Dune: Awakening Launches May 20, Shows off Dynamic Desert Environments in New Trailer

Dune: Awakening – Get Ready for New Content

Funcom is set to expand its survival-crafting sandbox, Dune: Awakening, with new content next month. Chapter 2, the game’s first free story update, is scheduled for release on September 10th, coinciding with the launch of a paid add-on called The Lost Harvest. A limited-time Steam trial is also available alongside Gamescom, allowing players to experience the desert planet firsthand.

Dune: Awakening, released earlier this year, combines the demanding resource management seen in games like Rust with the intricate political landscape of Frank Herbert’s Dune universe. This upcoming content marks the first significant effort to maintain player engagement, a common practice in today’s live-service survival games.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming:

  • Chapter 2 (free): Continues the main storyline, introduces new contracts and dynamic encounters, adds new items, and offers a character re-customization option.
  • The Lost Harvest DLC ($12.99): Presents a self-contained narrative centered around a crashed spice harvester, along with cosmetic rewards like the Treadwheel vehicle, new building components, armor sets, and weapons.
  • 10-hour Steam trial: Runs until August 24th; progress will be carried over if the full game is purchased.
  • Soundtrack vinyl pre-orders: Available for fans who want to own Knut Avenstroup Haugen’s score on vinyl.

Chapter 2 and The Lost Harvest will both be available on September 10th. The DLC is also included in the existing Season Pass, which is bundled with the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of the game.
