Krafton’s mobile extraction RPG, Abyss of Dungeons, from TERA developer Bluehole Studio, has released its August update for North America and other regions. This update, titled “A Chilling Harmony,” introduces the game’s first support role: the Bard.
Unlike damage-focused classes, the Bard utilizes music-based buffs to enhance allies. This provides party-oriented players with a way to support their teammates during challenging dungeon runs. The update also features the “Dispatch Team” system for passive loot acquisition and a limited-time summer event with cosmetics and experience boosts.
August Update Highlights:
- New Class: Bard – Unlocked at account level 6, the Bard can specialize in flute, drum, or lyre skills. Each instrument provides unique abilities and party buffs, filling a key support role.
- Dispatch Team Missions – Players can assemble AI-controlled mercenaries and send them on dungeon missions. Rewards depend on team composition and dungeon difficulty, with bonus rewards available for successful runs.
- New Weapons and Gear – The update expands the loot pool with items like the Blunderbuss, Great Shield, and themed weapons such as the Pale Breath flute.
- Summer Event (Aug. 9 – Sept. 2) – This event offers time-limited swimsuit outfits, a temporary EXP boost, and an event codex with challenge objectives, incentivizing players to log in.
Abyss of Dungeons initially launched in the US and Canada before expanding to Asian and Latin American markets. It blends action RPG combat with extraction mechanics, competing with titles like Dark and Darker Mobile in the handheld genre. Abyss of Dungeons was formerly known as Dark and Darker Mobile. However, after the copyright dispute with Nexon, the game was renamed. The game boasts over 1 million downloads on the Google Play store and remains a mobile-only title with no PC client.
