Devs Address Player Queries on The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin

If you’ve been intrigued by Netmarble’s forthcoming free-to-play open-world action RPG The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin showcased at Summer Game Fest and are eager for more details, you’re in luck! The development team recently shared a short video addressing some of the most frequently asked questions from players on the game’s official Discord. The video covers fundamental topics like the launch date and available platforms, along with insights into the game’s content. You can watch the video, which is nearly nine minutes long, below.

Netmarble aims to launch the game this year, planning to provide further details by Q3. It is designed with cross-play features, allowing gameplay across PlayStation, PC, and mobile devices. They intend to launch on all platforms simultaneously, avoiding delays for PlayStation gamers. However, it is currently a timed exclusive for PlayStation, with hopes of expanding to Xbox and Switch later on. This decision stems from the challenges of developing for multiple platforms at once.

The developers also elaborated on the world’s content and dimensions. Presently, the world map spans about 30 square kilometers, featuring various distinct regions. These regions are populated with quests, exploration opportunities, and unique dungeons. The game’s world encourages players to experience the narrative at their own pace, while also providing content that promotes collaboration among players. Additionally, the developers highlighted that side quests are designed to integrate seamlessly with the core gameplay, rather than merely serving as optional tasks.

When it comes to the game’s characters, it’s important for players to remember that the game is rooted in The Seven Deadly Sins manga. Consequently, many heroes will originate from this source, but new characters are also being introduced to fill the timeline between the conclusion of The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Knights of the Apocalypse. The storyline follows Tristian and the various heroes he encounters, with a primary focus on characters from the original manga, supported by newly created characters.

The video further reveals details about the combat system, which revolves around teams of four heroes. Players can expect to collect characters, though while the developers didn’t mention a gacha system explicitly, it’s reasonable to speculate that this may be how players acquire their heroes, at least in part.

Additionally, there were discussions regarding PvP. The overarching sentiment is a desire to incorporate it, but with a focus on ensuring it fits the game’s context appropriately. As a result, they are approaching the implementation cautiously and are considering introducing PvP as an event-based activity initially.
