Here’s what Diablo IV is doing in 2025 that isn’t the expansion you wanted

Diablo IV’s 2025 Plans: What’s Coming Beyond the Expected Expansion

Are you curious about the future of your favorite OARPG? If so, you’re likely interested in what Blizzard has planned for Diablo IV, especially after the studio revealed in February that, despite initial plans for annual expansions, the game won’t receive one in 2025.

In its newly released roadmap, Blizzard has confirmed that the next expansion won’t arrive until 2026. When it does, it will introduce a new ranking system and leaderboards. However, what’s coming in the meantime is likely to be more exciting for current players.

“Throughout 2025, you will witness the spread of Mephisto’s influence through new seasonal themes and questlines as we approach the release of our second expansion in 2026,” the studio stated. In the upcoming quarter, players can anticipate the return of Belial, Lord of Lies, as well as second-anniversary celebrations, a lair boss revamp, and a new incursion activity. Later in the summer, players will “revisit Nightmare Dungeons with new activities and interactions that allow them to escalate the dungeon’s intensity as they hunt down the barons of Hell” in the Sins of the Horadrim update. Finally, the fall season, titled Infernal Chaos, will introduce new powers that “put fresh choices into your hands.”

Additionally, Blizzard teased some transmedia collaborations: “Alongside new seasonal content and permanent game enhancements, the roadmap highlights two IP collaborations coming to Diablo IV this year. While details remain under wraps, we’re thrilled to blend the Diablo universe with other worlds that complement its dark themes.”
