MOBA Predecessor preps NA server merge, adds minimap updates and more Discord integration

MOBA Predecessor Prepares NA Server Merge, Introduces Minimap Updates and Enhanced Discord Integration

When a game announces the merging of its servers into one, it often raises concerns. However, for a game that relies on competitive matchmaking, having a single server can be beneficial. Yet, does this also signal trouble? These conflicting thoughts might swirl in your mind as you read the latest patch notes from Predecessor, the revived version of Epic Games’ MOBA Paragon.

“A long-awaited change has finally arrived — as of April 8th, the NA-EAST and NA-WEST servers will merge into a single server location: NA-Central,” the post announces. “This means no more dividing our North American player base — and possibly shorter queue times? We’re all for it!”

The same section of the notes also mentions that OCE servers will remain operational “permanently” and hints at the potential rollout of servers in other regions. This suggests global expansion, even as Steam player counts have declined. However, keep in mind that the MOBA is also available on EGS and consoles, so consider these platforms if such data is important to you.

The latest patch also introduces deeper Discord integration, allowing players to privately message Discord friends even if they’re not in-game, send messages to party members before queuing, or “reach out to individual players directly.” Of course, this feature will undoubtedly be used responsibly by players in a competitive game because, as we all know, Gamers™ are known for their emotional maturity and restraint.

Other highlights of the update include new in-game contextual tips designed to help players learn the basics, a first iteration of minimap updates to improve visibility of lanes, objectives, and the map itself, and a series of adjustments to general gameplay mechanics and specific heroes.
