Mortal Online 2 releases new chat box features and tweaked spell ranges, hints at the arrival of invasions

Mortal Online 2 Introduces New Chat Box Features and Adjusted Spell Ranges, Teases Upcoming Invasions

The chat window. Love it, hate it, mute it; it’s a vital tool for communication in MMOs, even if you might wish some of its users were connected to the ThroatPuncher 5000™ (patent pending) (not really). This essential feature has received a major overhaul in Mortal Online 2, making it more feature-rich and customizable. However, Star Vault has yet to develop the ThroatPuncher 5000™.

The PvP sandbox’s chat now includes multiple new functions, such as right-click options, the ability to friend or block players by clicking their names, drag-and-drop item links for sharing, new global chat channels (oh great), and an improved profanity filter, among other updates.

While the revamped chat is the highlight of this patch, there are other significant additions as well. These include adjustments to magic spell ranges to make them feel less random. Smaller but notable updates include the chance to find plant seeds while gathering, which can be planted in decorative pots, the highly anticipated ability to ride bush pigs as mounts, enemy AI improvements, and “numerous world landscape and terrain fixes.”

In other MO2 news, the game’s homepage has started a countdown for an upcoming informational livestream about the invasions feature. This feature was first mentioned in the 2025 roadmap and promises to let players “stand steadfast on shaking ground, as the drums of war begin to beat.” More details will be revealed in 14 days.
