Firebreak: Co-op Shooter in Control Universe

Admittedly, I may have a bit of a bias. Control is one of my favorite titles to date and that’s coming from someone who generally leans towards RPGs over a shooter game. Nevertheless, The Oldest House, The Hiss, and the Federal Bureau of Control crafted by Remedy enraptured me instantaneously. One popular sentiment from a trailer comment sums it concisely being “This universe they built is so smart because they can do anything and we’re left like ‘yup, makes sense.'”

For quite some time, we’ve been aware of Remedy’s ongoing multiplayer project set in this universe. Our past article about their reveal of FBC: Firebreak dates back to October of last year. Firebreak pertains to the unit you’ll embody in-game. This crack team is the solitary group competently equipped to grapple with The Oldest House’s incessant transformations. The Hiss is running amok and even sticky notes are causing pandemonium.

You and a couple of companions are assigned to tidy things up and endure “Jobs,” which are instanced PvE challenges designed for repetition. Survive through the end of the job, and yes, there’s a boss to conquer. Prior to setting off, ensure to select your “Crisis Kit.” Each kit confers diverse capabilities related to mobility, large-scale strikes or backing up your squad. Jump, Fix, or Splash…Choose your kit.

A Q&A will be taking place on their Steam page on March 31st for those curious to know more. I can’t wait to tune in, and I surmise The Director would be eager too.

FBC: Firebreak is set to launch this year on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 platforms. Remedy has announced it as a “mid-priced” offering.
