The Sailing skill has been a topic of discussion, teasers, and polls for a very long time, and now Old School RuneScape is delivering on its promise to launch it into open testing this month. Jagex has confirmed the open alpha will begin on March 20th.
Fans may remember that Jagex has been developing Sailing for quite some time, ever since it was first proposed in 2023. Over the past two years, the studio has consistently shared updates, showcasing features and progress while actively seeking player feedback at every stage. The open alpha marks the next significant milestone for Sailing, leading up to its anticipated release this autumn.
While further details about the test are yet to be revealed, an earlier Discord message highlights that the alpha will include the skill’s introductory quest, ship customization, an updated world map, and various activities such as port tasks, ship salvaging, and a barracuda trial. More information is expected soon, but for now, aspiring sailors of Gielinor can mark their calendars for March 20th.
