Welcome to the 7th edition of the International Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and Games, this time in the beautiful city of Valletta, Malta!
The summer school focuses on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the gaming world. It starts with foundational lectures covering the basics of AI and its role in gaming. Then we dive into detailed sessions on how AI is used in game play, game content creation, and player modeling.
This educational event is designed for professionals in the gaming industry, including game developers, designers, programmers, and practitioners. It’s also perfect for postgrad students in the fields of gaming, AI, design, human-computer interaction, and computational intelligence.
Leading the lectures are Georgios N. Yannakakis and Julian Togelius, who co-wrote the first exhaustive textbook on AI integration in games, the AI and Games textbook (http://www.gameaibook.org). In addition to insightful theory lectures, there will be guest lectures on specific AI in gaming topics, and hands-on workshops hosted by top industry experts. The latter part of the school includes a game AI jam session based on the discussed topics.
