In an era where Blizzard and World of Warcraft have held substantial longevity, it’s not uncommon for any MMO or game project to assert they are “developed by ex-WoW developers” in their media briefings. Despite this trend, I’ve always looked at Legacy: Steel & Sorcery from a different perspective. After discussing with the CEO of Notorious Studios, I learned about the team’s extensive WoW experience and leadership roles, thereby truly embodying the term “developed by ex-WoW developers”.
Today, we finally get to experience what this team brings to the table as Legacy: Steel & Sorcery launches in early access. While the team doesn’t categorize it as an MMO, it does have some MMO-like elements, reminding me of Dark and Darker or Escape from Tarkov but with a Lord of the Rings fantasy touch, as the team puts it in their press release.
Begin your adventure at around 1 PM EST, and you can join for $24.99 for the standard edition. There are also two other founder’s pack versions costing $49.99 and $59.99 if you wish to avail of extra features and further support the developers.
Create your character as a warrior, rogue, or other class, prepare your weapons, start exploring, engage in battles and gather loot. That’s basically what you should expect.
Early access brings several enhancements and additions including a smaller tutorial map, first series of quests, a “How to Play” tip section, and various UI and gameplay improvements and bug fixes. Check out the notes ahead of the launch date today.
