Electronic Arts (EA) seems rather displeased with the revenue generated by Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale game, Apex Legends, based on an IGN report. During a financial briefing, the company stated that Apex Legends’ revenue declined, in spite of the game performing relatively conforming to projections and boasting millions of players.
When the matter was raised, EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson revealed that the corporation has been taking proactive measures to amend the financial direction of the game. Furthermore, he stressed his company’s desire to consistently support the player community by emphasizing aspects such as enhancing gameplay experience and tightening anti-cheat measures. Regrettably, their efforts so far haven’t brought about the desired outcome.
As a remedy, Wilson has revealed a significant game update he has labeled as “Apex Legends 2.0”. His description suggests that this might be an entirely new version of the existent game, especially as one of the major concerns is ensuring it does not coincide with the release of the upcoming Battlefield title. Alternatively, this could be a new “mode” addition to the current game similar to what we saw with Warzone in Call of Duty. While the Battlefield release is planned for no later than April 2026, EA hopes to launch the upgraded Apex Legends version before March 2027.
In the meantime, players can anticipate the Takeover update arriving later this month. The game developers unveiled additional details about this update through a video released earlier today.
