Overwatch 2’s 6v6 Playtest Now Available in the Arcade

Just over sixty days since Blizzard declared trials for a 6v6 mode in Overwatch 2, the project is transitioning the mode’s trial to the Arcade. As per a tweet by Arron Keller, the test will carry on given there’s ample player interest, but team shooter enthusiasts will need to search the Arcade to locate it. The announcement has provoked mixed opinions from players, with many expressing fear the mode will be ignored within the Arcade, despite their elation about the test’s extension beyond the preliminary timeline.

The original tweet further added that the mode will stay in the Arcade till the midpoint of the season. Subsequently, it will shift to an Open Queue framework. Teams ranging from one to three individuals can enrol for it.

It remains to be seen whether the players’ apprehensions about the shift causing a dip in participation numbers come true. Maybe, the developers think that strong player likeness would prompt a deliberate effort to engage with it via the Arcade. However, many gamers are keenly hoping the mode would be incorporated into the Ranked category.
