Pro Apex Legends Player Places Blame For The Shooter's Woes Directly At The Feet Of "Upper Management"

Pro Apex Legends Player Blames “Upper Management” for Game Issues

Upper echelons in the gaming industry do not seem to place the gamers’ needs and wants at the forefront, indicates HisWattson, the professional player of Apex Legends, a game by EA and Respawn. The shooter game has been in the spotlight for negative reasons as of late, due to its shift to a monetization model that initially required a double payment which was rolled back and its continually shrinking user base despite claims from EA’s CEO of the need for a “Large Systemic Change” .

Emerging from a promising beginning, Apex Legends was raking in a serious cash inflow only to now face displeased gamers, controversial monetization tactics, and lack of attention to its core fanbase. This has ultimately created an imbalance in the game’s sustainability.

I still believe that Apex Legends isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and that it’s still making considerable cash. Yet, if the audience’s frustration is not addressed, this could eventually change.

HisWattson argues that three main issues primarily direct the problems being faced by the game. Firstly, the game struggles to decide who to cater to; casual or ranked competitive players, both or all. Mode adjustment seems to be a hit or miss, leading to random fluctuation in the player’s preference. He criticizes the Engagement Optimized Matchmaking Framework(EOMM)- a feature designed to encourage players to play more without focusing on skill, thereby generating a chaotic list of features for the players.

According to HisWattson, the current situation of the game can be placed at the foot of the upper management who seemed unsure of how to proceed after the unexpected success of Apex Legends. He thinks that EA opted to maximize its profit with minimal expenses instead of innovating and expanding upon their accidental hit. HisWattson extends this blame to EA’s approach towards the modding community, stifling their creativity and generating less content of their own.

HisWattson further clarifies that the blame is not on the development team. He shares conversations with the team, who frequently voiced their frustration over limitations and negligence towards their suggestions.

Take a look at the video below to find out more. Where do you think Apex Legends is heading? Will it bounce back and grow or will EA be satisfied with its cash-earning abilities until it ceases?
