Dauntless ‘Awakening’ and Steam Version Launch Next Week

The monster hunting game Dauntless is getting a major game update with “Awakening”. Phoenix Labs describe it as the biggest update the game has ever had. It includes some much-needed improvements like the ability to change weapons and a new monster. It’s also introducing modifications to the game’s progressions systems. All these seem promising, but I have expressed my worries regarding the game’s new direction.

There are more changes being introduced as well.

I’m worried about the game’s monetization strategies under its new ownership, a blockchain company. At a time when loot boxes are being eliminated due to regulations, Dauntless is actually incorporating them amongst other financially dubious decisions.

The new update “Awakening” will be launched next week on Thursday, December 5, the same day the Steam version is being released which will include cross play and cross progression.
