Tonight, WoW Classic launches new progression servers with modifications along with WoW Classic Classic


The (re)launch day for WoW Classic is here, confirmed by Blizzard commencing operations this evening unveiling a slew of fresh start megaservers globally with kick-off at 5:00 pm eastern. Feel free to label these 20th anniversary servers as “WoW Classic Classic,” since even the developers are on board with this naming!

These servers — PvE, PvP, and Hardcore — will initiate from the vanilla version and remain so for approximately a year as the game advances through phases. Eventually, PvE and PvP servers will proceed to The Burning Crusade (and likely beyond?) in the early part of 2026.

Due to a last-gasp effort by the gaming community, an Oceanic PvP server has been included in the realm list, hence increasing the total number of realms to seven (three in NA, three in EU, one in Australia).

Several noteworthy quality-of-life improvements have been incorporated by Blizzard for this iteration of Classic, such as an upgraded looking-for-group feature, an improved guild UI, the capacity to save world buffs, no restrictions in buff or debuff, and the earlier deployment of dual specs. The company has also prohibited GDKP on these realms while maintaining faction balance on PvP servers to prevent unbalanced populations.
