Airship Syndicate continues to put in relentless effort towards enhancing and introducing new features to MMO-turned-not-so-much-more Wayfinder. The advent of the Echoes update which transformed the game into a more solo-cooperative adventure has been well received since its release on PC and its subsequent launch on PlayStation 5.
However, the release of the game on Xbox consoles has been delayed indefinitely. Though it was previously advertised as “coming by the end of the year,” a recent update from the team casts doubt on that timeline.
In the announcement, the team acknowledges the delay in bringing the game to Xbox, appreciates player patience and reiterates its goal to have the game with the Critical Role Supporter Pack available by year end. Even without a confirmed release date, the team is eager to welcome Wayfinders on Xbox Series X|S to join players across other platforms.
Given that we’re nearly into December, if there were a firm launch date for the Xbox version this month, one would think it would have been announced. My guess, for now, is a probable 2025 release. Additionally, mod support is definitely not arriving before year’s end, as the team cites higher priority tasks, such as the Xbox launch.
So what can Wayfinders expect in the upcoming December release?
Notably, a new Nightmare difficulty mode will be introduced for those seeking tougher challenges. However, Nightmare mode will only be accessible through a new save file. Once the rewards from this mode are unlocked, they can be accessed through all save files. These rewards encompass improved drop items, including boosted versions of all current artifacts and three additional artifacts exclusive to the Nightmare mode.
Yes, this means save slots will be introduced too.
Lastly, The December update will bring a host of bug fixes, new collectibles, and the reintroduction of artifacts from past holiday events.
