In Fen Research Ltd’s latest MMORPG Brighter Shores, an intriguing gameplay feature is the job separation based on the region (or episode). When players conquer an episode, they can’t carry forward the jobs they have leveled up. Instead, they are ushered into fresh occupations. For instance, transitioning from Episode 1, Hopeport, to Episode 2, Hopeforest, requires players to drop their initial professions and embrace Scout, Woodcutter, Gatherer, and Carpenter.
However, this approach has sparked confusion since the system resets their level indicator, leading players to feel as though they hadn’t made any progress. Furthermore, gamers fear that the time invested in upgrading the first set of jobs is for naught since they aren’t used again in the next episode. However, players will indeed put Episode 1 professions to work as new tasks are added to Hopeport, thus utilizing those jobs.
The goal of this innovative system is to offer equal pleasure to both time-constrained players and those who can dedicate several hours. It also resolves the problem of rapid advancements overshadowing the new content.
The developer team responded to players’ concerns by altering how levels are displayed. Instead of the current job’s level within an episode, the total accumulated levels from all episodes would be shown. Consequently, players won’t feel like they’ve squandered their accomplishments. They are also factoring in player suggestions, some of which are mentioned in a Steam post.
