Gen Con is an international hotspot for fans of tabletop gaming, drawing visitors globally in 2018, who came from over 60 countries, all 50 states of the US, and numerous Canadian provinces.
The company, Gen Con LLC, was established in 2002 by Peter Adkison, the creator and ex-CEO of Wizards of the Coast. After a brief break from the gaming world, Peter bought the “Gen Con Game Fair” from Wizards of the Coast. The first event under Peter’s management was held in August 2002 in Milwaukee, WI. Upon its establishment, Gen Con LLC procured the U.S. convention in Milwaukee, along with the nationwide brand that had previously managed shows in the United Kingdom and Barcelona, Spain.
