In June, after initially discovering Ylands and my own exploration long after its original release, I expressed my surprise that it has not gained more attention in the survival genre. This is considering its superior quality, polish, and its association with Bohemia. As a result, I decided to monitor it and it’s time for an update. A preview of the first stages of the hinted update by Bohemia has been released by Ylands last week.
The studio indicates that they have been actively working on the imminent update which they have named “Fleet Friends.” Steam users can now try this update. It features the ability to own multiple boats and vehicles, animal taming enhancements, additional companions, updated avatar photos and enhancements for the editor, which include new items and creatures.
The multiplayer features have notably been upgraded:
Setting up multiplayer games is significantly easier, and we’ve improved its setup to make it user-friendly. From the Region Map in Adventure mode, players can directly create multiplayer sessions and can make any changes on the go. Rented servers are now available for 7-day purchases for improved accessibility. They can also serve as travel servers. If traveling to a different scenario, the server owner can replace the current scenario with the destination scenario in a single Rented server slot. This helps make group travel much more handy.”
Ylands is available as a Free-to-Play game on Steam. A single-player version can also be found on the Switch.
