BitSummit, inaugurated in late 2012, was created to provide independent Japanese game developers an opportunity to showcase their creations to a global audience. Inaugurated as a modest, industry-only affair with about 200 attendees in 2013, BitSummit grew exponentially to a groundbreaking festival that played host to over 11,000 participants in 2018. The event has been strengthened by keynote speeches from esteemed industry veterans such as Shuhei Yoshida (Sony Interactive Entertainment), Suehiro Tanaka (White Owls), Atsushi Inaba & Hideki Kamia (Platinum Games), and Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Enhance Games).
