Lord of the Rings Online Begins ‘Expelling’ Players from Angmar and Mordor Nazgul Battle

Don’t react with shock if you find yourself abruptly cast away from the Nazgul battle in the new legendary servers of Lord of the Rings Online. This is part of the plan laid out by Standing Stone Games to prevent the Angmar and Mordor progression servers from crashing due to player overpopulation during the brawl.

As the studio elucidates, “Predictably, a Nazgul’s presence during high-traffic periods leads to overcrowding. Even though our new servers are performing admirably, the influx of over 300 players in a confined area can still put them under strain. Once the player count in close proximity to the Nazgul surpasses roughly 50, banishments will start to maintain system performance and maintain the challenge of the battle.”

There’s a silver lining, though. Even if you’re whisked away from the battle scene, you won’t leave empty-handed. Any player marked by the Ringwraith, which typically happens within a minute of joining the battle, is assured a share of the loot, irrespective of whether they were banished.

Community manager Cordovan reviews this latest congestion control strategy along with other updates from the most recent game patch in the latest iteration of his weekly “Cord of the Rings” livestream, available below.
