Smite 2 Debuts MOBA Matchmaking System After Ten-Year Development

In the world of online role-playing games, individual player abilities tend to vary quite significantly. While some players find their forte in bulking up defenses as tanks, others fall short when given the role of healers, and there are those who truly shine at melee combat with hearty bashing weapons.

Given this disparity, assigning ranks to players for MOBAs matchmaking is not a straightforward task as the usual method is to just average out skill ratings without taking specific roles into consideration. This very issue is what Titan Forge Games is aiming to solve in Smite 2.

The developer today has disclosed specifics about the “MOBA Specific Matchmaking” system that will be incorporated into Smite 2 upon its release. The revamped system will be more comprehensive in its approach by reflecting player performance across different roles rather than relying on a single metric. The new system, designed based on a decade-long research and player input, is explained in detail within the video shared below.
