Hearthstone Reveals Why the Perils in Paradise Board Was Absent and Announces Only One Release Per Year Henceforth

The latest expansion for Hearthstone – ‘Perils in Paradise’, notably lacked a new board, leaving some players startled. However, this was predictable for those who have been following any data miner news related to the game.

Disgruntled fans of the card game were unhappy about having a rather standard feature axed without any prior notice. Thankfully, we now have an explanation given by Nathan Lyons-Smith, Executive Producer of the game, via an update.

In his statement, Lyons-Smith confesses that the development team could have managed their communication better concerning any abrupt changes to the game. He admits that they did not efficiently clarify their catalyst for these changes and apologized for the miscommunication. His future aim is to provide more transparency esp. around the rationale driving any game modifications.

Lyons-Smith then outlines the team’s plan for future development under the banner of “Fun, Focus, and Fearless”. He elaborates on changes they’ve implemented that have been positively received by players. As part of their focus, they are honing in on the modes players often engage with. As for being ‘fearless’, the team aims to boldly experiment with new ideas.

As indicated, one such experiment was their decision with ‘Perils in Paradise’ to exclude a new board. Lyons-Smith reveals future plans of creating just one new board annually rather than hosting a repetition of three. The energy otherwise spent on these boards would now be channeled into aspects like allowing players to choose their preferred boards. Fans can look forward to new hero skins as well.

The direction of these plans will invite varied opinions from players. While some might welcome new updates, others might lean towards choices like a favourite board selection feature, which arguably could have been introduced much earlier.
